DVD Picks – February 10, 2008

donniedarko blurayFor the second time in this column, my top pick for the week is a new Blu-Ray release.

Coming out on the high-definition format this week is a film that I can still call my favourite, Donnie Darko. In fact, the film's release on Blu-Ray may result in me reconsidering my position on the format. 😛

The new releases this week include the George W. Bush biopic W. (also on Blu-Ray), which I thought provided a sympathetic look at the (now-)former president's life, while at the same time not letting him off the hook for his mistakes while in .

Also being released this week are The Miracle of St. Anna (also on Blu-Ray), Soul Men (also on Blu-Ray), and Blindness (also on Blu-Ray).

Fans of the Evil Dead films made to check out Bruce Campbell's self-parody My Name is Bruce (also on Blu-Ray), which is a film I would definitely want to check out (too bad only received a very limited theatrical release).

The new Blu-Ray film's this week, in addition to Donnie Darko, include Boondock Saints, Pretty Woman, A History of Violence, The Pelican Brief, The Rundown, and A Time to Kill.

And that's my DVD Picks for this week.
