News: Twilight Recasting Woes

Source: /Film

I could probably care less about the Twilight series, however I do have to agree that this is an interesting little story that’s developing.

The second film New Moon isn’t even out yet and there is currently a minor issue over casting for the third film Eclipse.

Apparently due to a scheduling conflict, Rachelle Lefevre, who played the villain Victoria, has been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Lefevre is claiming that she was uninformed of the casting change and that the so-called conflict was only for ten days. Summit Entertaint retorted by saying that Lefevre held back her other commitments until the last moment, which was seen as a sign of bad faith.

Personally, in the end, I don’t care who’s right or wrong in this issue. However, I do have to say that Lefevre would probably have had more to gain by staying in this series. Bryce Dallas Howard is the bigger name of the two (both for being the daughter of Ron Howard and having a few high profile roles during the last five years) and I’m sure that the recasting was partially an attempt to add some more recognizable names to the cast.

It was probably a bad decision by Summit, however I doubt anything will be done about it.
