This Weekend in Movies – August 6, 2010 – The Other Guys, Step-Up 3D, Middle Men, and More

The first weekend of August is headlined by the latest collaboration by Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay.  The film has a very good rating at Rotten Tomatoes, currently ranking at 80% Fresh.

The same can’t be said about the other releases this week.  Step-Up 3D (a highly unnecessary 3D film if there ever was one) has a 49% Fresh rating.  Rounding things off in the major releases is Middle Men, which has a 41% Fresh rating.

Some of the films that I saw last year at the Toronto Film Festival is now out in theatres.  First there’s Get Low, which has an excellent rating of 88% Fresh.  You can revisit my thoughts on the film here.

Next is The Disappearance of Alice Creed, which was in my top three films from the festival.  The film has a 78% Fresh rating and you may revisit my thoughts here.

And that’s This Weekend in Movies.
