This Week in Movies – April 20-26

HotDocs does not start for another week, though I’m getting a bit of a kick-start with some interesting docs playing this week.

New Releases

  • Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope (April 21) – Known for being in front of the camera, Morgan Spurlock seemingly takes a bit of a backseat and lets the fans talk in this new documentary about the San Diego Comic-Con.  I’ve definitely been looking forward to seeing this one.
  • Sound It Out (April 20) – Playing at the Bloor Cinema, this documentary is about the final vinyl record shop in Teesside, North East England.  Will definite be a good film for music fans (or fans of the film High Fidelity) to check out.
  • The Raven (April 25) – Two days before it opens, I will be seeing an advanced screening of this film, which has Edgar Allen Poe (played by John Cusack) pursuing a serial killer inspired by his stories.  Will be interesting to say the least.

Sean Kelly Author

Sean Patrick Kelly is a self-described über-geek, who has been an avid film lover for all his life. He graduated from York University in 2010 with an honours B.A. in Cinema and Media Studies and he likes to believe he knows what he’s talking about when he writes about film (despite occasionally going on pointless rants).
