This Week in Movies – June 29 – July 5

Happy long weekend! Over the next few days we will be celebrating Canada Day over here and Independence Day in the States.  What a better time to see some summer blockbusters, both old and new.  Here’s what’s on deck.

New Releases

  • The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3) – The reboot of the Spider-Man franchise opens on an unusual day this Tuesday, which will probably be when I go see it.
  • Ted (June 30) – Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane releases a movie about a foul-mouthed teddy bear.  I’m in.
  • Jaws (June 29) – Opening for a revival run today at the Bell Lightbox, I look forward to rewatching Steven Spielberg’s breakthrough film.
  • First Blood (June 30) – This will be my “Revisiting 1982” film for the month and I get to see it on the big screen.
