Movies of the Moment: October 2008

October is traditionally filled with horror films and the last batch of early fall popcorn flicks before the Oscar contenders start coming out in November. Here is what I have an eye one.

Feature Film October 2008
rocknrolla poster 1RocknRolla – October 8
This looks to be the best Guy Ritchie film since Snatch and I am definitely excited about this action/comedy.

Other Picks for the Month
W. – October 17
Oliver Stone's biopic on George W. Bush is worth seeing just to see how much Stone bashes the guy.

Passchendaele – October 17
This Canadian World War I film opened this year's Toronto Film Festival and seems to be a must-see film.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno – October 31
This is noted for being 's first R-rated comedy not to feature any of his recurring characters, such as Jay and Silent Bob. However, in the leading role will definitely make for that.

May Check Out
Blindness – October 3
It has a premise that reminds of Children of and it is also a Canadian co-production. However, I don't know if I have the time or money to see it.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People – October 3
I like , but this seems a little too mainstream.

Quarantine – October 10
The latest entry in the growing category of “docuhorror” films looks intriguing. However, my experience with , I'm not sure if I could stomach another such film in theatres.

Max Payne – October 17
I'm a fan of the video game, but I'm not sure if the film will be able to recreate it's essence. It's worth a watch though.

Already Saw, but recommending
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Flash of Genius – October 3
See today's This Weekend in Movies post

Not Interested
High School Musical 3: Senior Year – October 24
All I have to say is that if this opens higher than Saw V in one of the traditional halloween weekends, I can say the world that we know it has ended.

And that's the picks for October.
