Rich Hill, Missouri is a small town with a population of only 1393. Andrew is a 14 year old, whose family is frequently moving; Appachey is a violent and foul-mouthed 13 year old, who's always getting into trouble; Harley is a 15 year old with anger issues, living with his grandmother, while his mother serves time for attempted murder. Rich Hill moves back and forth between these three teenager's stories, in this slice of small town life. With a few exceptions, Rich Hill keeps rotating between the stories of Andrew, Appachey, and Harley, in that order. The film is very much a slice of life of these teens, who all live somewhat impoverished and/or troubled lifestyles. The most interesting story turns out to be Harley's, since he has probably the most troubled backstory of the three. I thought that Rich Hill was an okay enough peek into small time life. The three stories are undoubtedly interesting and it's almost sad how tough a life these three kids have. However, the film does not really have much more to it, other than opening a brief window into these three teens' lives. While I wasn't really blown away by Rich Hill, I will still say that the film is worth checking out. 7 | FAIR Screenings:
