A woman mysteriously resurfaces three days after a car accident in On the 3rd Day. Cecilia Amato (Mariana Anghileri) has set off on a trip with her young son Martin (Octavio Belmonte) but ends up in an accident, where her car is struck by Enrique (Gerardo Romano). Three days later, Cecilia is found in a daze and placed in a hospital under the care of Hernan Pastori (Lautaro Delgado). However, with Martin nowhere to be seen, Cecilia is quested about his whereabouts by both her abusive ex-husband Fernando (Diego Cremonesi) and suspicious police inspector Ventura (Osvaldo Santoro).
On the 3rd Day is an Argentinian horror film by director Daniel de la Vega. The film opens with the mysterious, yet seemingly religious individual of Enrique receiving a phone call asking him to go on a “last trip.” It is on this trip, where Enrique literally runs into Cecilia, who was momentarily distracted by another woman named Lucia Figaro (Verónica Intile) broken down at the side of the road. Both Lucia and Cecilia’s son Martin vanished in the aftermath of the accident and Cecilia seeks her doctor Hernan Pastori’s help to find out where her son has gone.
More a mystery, than a full-out horror film, On the 3rd Day is a film that steadily pieces together the events before and after the car accident that sets the plot in motion, with most of the exposition coming in the form of a mid-film hypnosis session Cecilia participates in. This all leads to a somewhat predictable, yet still enjoyable to watch horror climax, which makes On the 3rd Day a film to check out.
