Trailer Thoughts: Avatar

avatarHere it is! It’s the teaser trailer for what is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films this holiday season.

One of the big selling points for Avatar is the film’s state-of-the-art motion-capture CGI for the “Na’vi” aliens. I do say that the creatures look quite realistic — for blue cat-like beings that is.

As briefly seen in this trailer, the title comes by how the protagonist (played by ) mentally inhabits a Na’vi clone (or avatar). After that story set-up the rest of the trailer is just made up of action shots, which demonstrates how well done the CGI is (since about 90% of the action involves the Na’vi’s).

While I’m still disapointed I won’t get to see the extended preview tomorrow, this definitely looks to be a film I should not miss when it is released in December.
