Box Office Thoughts for the Weekend of March 27, 2009

MonstersvsAliens PosterMonsters vs. Aliens was the top film over the weekend, with a very decent gross of $59.3M. The Haunting in Connecticut opened in second with a gross of $23M.

Last week’s top film Knowing dropped to third place with a gross of $14.7M.

As for the ongoing box office progress of Watchmen, the film is now safely past the $100M mark with a worldwide gross $170.6M. That wouldn’t be bad if the film didn’t cost so much to make.

And that’s the box office thoughts for this week.
