A Statement about COVID-19

This has been a very rough week for me as the World Health Organization officially declared the COVID-19 coronavirus, which has been steadily spreading around the world since the end of December, a full-on pandemic. This resulted in the suspension of most large public gatherings, including all the sports leagues, and the general advice was given to the general public to wash their hands regularly and practice social distancing.

So, where does this leave me, who makes it a regular habit to watch and review movies? Even though a number of the major tentpole releases, including No Time to Die, A Quiet Place Part Two, and Mulan, have been removed from the immediate schedule, cinemas are technically still open and I still plan on going to the occasional screening, while following safety precautions, such as sitting at least three seats away from other patrons. That said, my output is probably going to slow down greatly, even though I’ll try to write more streaming/VOD reviews to fill the gap left by the major theatrical releases.

This is definitely a very difficult time to be a cinephile and I’ll try to keep this site active to the best of my ability. If you would like to help support me during this tough time, I encourage you to join my Patreon, and I’ll return the favour with more Patron-only content,

Update: March 15, 2020

I wanted to emphasize that I DO NOT plan on halting my writing during this pandemic. For the foreseeable future, I am going to be much more lenient on the films that I decide to review, which will include a lot more VOD and streaming content. I’m also going to be doubling down on my Patreon-exclusive “Premium Classics” reviews and you can expect at least one of those a week.
