Alien: Covenant (20/05/2017)

The following review contains SPOILERS A crew of colonists come across a planet holding a dark secret in Alien: Covenant. The colony ship Covenant is on its way to the remote planet of Origae-6, with two thousand colonists on board, monitored by synthetic crew member Walter (Michael Fassbender). When a neutrino burst hits the ship, Walter is […]

This is the End (12/06/2013)

Seth Rogen and his longtime writing parter Evan Goldberg make their directorial debuts with the apocalyptic horror/comedy This is the End.  The film is an expansion of a 2007 short they wrote entitled Jay and Seth versus the Apocalypse.  The film features an allstar cast of actors, all playing themselves, who have become popular in […]

30 Minutes or Less (14/08/2011)

30 Minutes or Less is an action-comedy from the director of Zombieland.  It can easily be said that this film doesn’t have as original a premise as the previous, but I still found it to be quite hilarious. It’s a very simple plot: a looser of a pizza delivery boy (Jesse Eisenberg) gets strapped with a […]

Due Date (06/11/2010)

You could have called last year’s The Hangover a bit of a comeback film for Todd Philips, since it was his first true hit since Old School.  I think it also raised expectations a bit for the follow-up. I can say that Due Date is a bit of a step-down from The Hangover in terms […]

Up in the Air is definitely much closer in tone to Jason Reitman’s first film Thank You for Smoking than it is to Juno. The film stars George Clooney as a guy named Ryan Bingham who flies all over the country and fires people.  It’s a thankless existence, but he seems content with it, feeling […]

Pineapple Express (08/08/2008)

You can definitely say that Seth Rogen has become a big start in a very short period. It has been only three years, since he had his first real prominent film role in The 40 Year Old Virgin. Pineapple Express mixes a stoner comedy with an action film. Like last year’s Superbad, it was written […]

The Heartbreak Kid (08/10/2007)

Back in my Movies of the Moment post, I was hoping that this film, which reunited Ben Stiller with the Farrelly Brothers would have recreated the magic of There’s Something About Mary. Sadly, I have to say that is not the case. The film did have it’s moments. I thought the scenes where Stiller’s comedy […]
