Drama develops on the set of the sitcom I Love Lucy in Being the Ricardos. Starring the real-life married couple of Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem), the sitcom I Love Lucy became a huge hit when it began airing in the early 1950s. However, while in the middle of taping the […]

People from today are sent to fight an alien threat three decades in the future in The Tomorrow War. In December of 2022, the world is shocked when soldiers from the year 2051 arrive asking for help to fight back an alien threat known as Whitespikes, which have almost completely decimated humanity. For Green Beret turned […]

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (23/03/2021)

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is being reviewed as an independent entity from the theatrical cut. For my original thoughts, you can check out my original review from November 2017. A little background, for the uninformed: In May 2017, while his Justice League film was beginning post-production, Zack Snyder decided to step down as director, following the […]

His first case is a series of missing women cases, each other which occurred during a snowfall, with a snowman left at […]

An aspiring jazz drummer aspires to reach perfection in the musical drama Whiplash.  Andrew Neyman (Miles Teller) is a young man, who enrols in an elite music conservatory, in the hopes of becoming one of the next great jazz drummers.  He is chosen to become part of the school’s jazz ensemble, which is lead by […]

Dark Skies (24/02/2013)

From Fire in the Sky to The Fourth Kind, alien abduction has always been a popular subject of sci-fi/horror films.  It’s not really surprising, since the thought of extraterrestrials kidnapping and experimenting on humans is quite terrifying.  In fact, seeing such stories on 1990s paranormal TV shows, such as Sightings, sometimes gave me nightmares as […]

RED (16/10/2010)

The selling point of this film, based on a graphic novel, is the age of the lead actors, who all play retired spies forced back into action. Everything in the film is appropriately tongue-in-cheek, however the film does turn out to be a fairly decent action film in its own right.  While you would expect […]

Up in the Air (10/12/2009)

Up in the Air is definitely much closer in tone to Jason Reitman’s first film Thank You for Smoking than it is to Juno. The film stars George Clooney as a guy named Ryan Bingham who flies all over the country and fires people.  It’s a thankless existence, but he seems content with it, feeling […]

I Love You, Man (21/03/2009)

For Paul Rudd‘s second leading role, he teams up with fellow Judd Apatow alumnus Jason Segel for this buddy comedy about male bonding. It seems that male-bonding or “bromance” is in these days (complete with an MTV reality show), so it was only natural that a movie be made. That said, the film would have […]

Burn After Reading (20/09/2008)

A year after taking a break from the genre with No Country for Old Men, the Coen Brothers return to comedy with Burn After Reading. I have to say that this is probably the Coen Brothers funniest film since 2000’s O Brother, Where Art Thou, though some people might even look at far back to […]

Juno (19/12/2007)

Earlier this year at the Toronto Film Festival, I remember this film was receiving some good buzz. I would have considered seeing it then, if it wasn’t for the fact that the scheduling conflicted with my own. I think comparison has already been made that Juno seems to be Knocked Up and Superbad merged into […]

Spider-Man 3 (06/05/2007)

I don’t really have too many detailed things to write about this film. As such, I will just summarize by saying that I really liked the film, however I did think that it was a step down from the other films. I think it might have been a bad idea to include more than one […]
