Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a bit of a difficult film to properly process. The film has an inherently ridiculous premise that is played as straight as possible throughout the plot of the film. It would be almost accurate to say that the film is actually a history drama about Abraham Lincoln that just happens to involve vampire slave traders. I just don't really know what to think of this film. I enjoyed it the best during the action set-pieces that had some actual vampire hunting in them. Those were cool to watch. However, these events had to be interweaved into Lincoln's life and it gave the film some problems with pacing. Overall, the film definitely had its moments, but perhaps mixing history with horror doesn't work as well on the big screen as well as it does in a campy novel (even if the author of said novel wrote the screenplay). 7 | FAIR
