DVD Picks – January 4, 2011 – Machete, Dinner for Schmucks, Last Exorcism, and More
Martin Scorsese Teaches Filmmaking
Thanks to the holidays, I have a backlog of about a half dozen blu-rays to watch, so I will have to be a bit choosy about additional films I purchase for the next few weeks. However, I can probably make a case for Machete, which successfully took the fake trailer from Grindhouse and expanded it into a full length film. It is definitely a glee. On to the picks.
Machete
Blu-Ray – $34.99 (CAN), $21.99 (US)
DVD – $34.99 (CAN), $15.99 (US)
My Thoughts: An enjoyable “check your brain at the door” action film.
My Recommendation: Buy It
Dinner for Schmucks
Blu-Ray – $32.99 (CAN), $21.99 (US)
DVD – $29.49 (CAN), $16.99 (US)
My Thoughts: A funny film with Steve Carell in full goofball mode.
My Recommendation: Rent It
The Last Exorcism
Blu-Ray/DVD Combo – $32.89 (CAN), $22.99 (US)
DVD – $29.49 (CAN), $17.99 (US)

My Recommendation: Rent It
Catfish

My Recommendation: Rent It
