As expected, I wasn’t able to tune into this year’s awards…but that’s what newspapers are for. Here are the results.
Best Picture – Drama
My Prediction: The Departed
Winner: Babel
Final Thoughts: I said that it was between these two. I predict that the Oscar race will be very close.
Best Picture – Musical or Comedy
Final Thoughts: No surprise here. This will probably be the third choice in the Best Picture Oscar.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
My Prediction: Leonardo DiCaprio
Winner: Forest Whitaker
Final Thoughts: Whitaker was my alternate choice. I think I should be a closer look on him for the Oscars.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
Final Thoughts: This one was a no-brainer. I think Mirren will probably also win the Best Actress Oscar.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Final Thoughts: I have one thing to say about this: Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Final Thoughts: This was another no-brainer
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Final Thoughts: I think this Golden Globe is going to lead to bigger things for Murphy.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Final Thoughts: Ditto for Jennifer Hudson.
Best Director – Motion Picture
Final Thoughts: If he doesn’t win that Oscar, I’m going to scream
Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
My Prediction: The Departed
Winner: The Queen
Final Thoughts: I didn’t really expect this one.
Best Original Score – Motion Picture
My Prediction: Babel
Winner: The Painted Veil
Final Thoughts: Like I said in the predictions, this was just a guess.
Best Original Song – Motion Picture
My Prediction: Listen
Winner: The Song Of The Heart
Final Thoughts: Who knew?
Best Animated Film
Final Thoughts: Not a surprise. Pixar makes great films.
Best Foreign Language Film
Final Thoughts: I predict Letters From Iwo Jima will go on to great things come Oscar time (Maybe even a Best Picture nomination)
9 out of 14. Not bad.
