It’s a common occurrence for people to criticize the Canadian Netflix selection in comparison to its American counterpart. Some people seem to think that, just because every Hollywood blockbuster is not available, it means that the service is not worth subscribing to. As such, in this new column I will pick one film among the Netflix Canada selection to recommend checking out. With Hot Docs fast approaching, my pick for this week will be the film Beauty is Embarrassing, which I saw at the festival last year. The film follows artist Wayne White, who is best known for his work on the television how Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. I thought that this was a wonderful little film and it was one of my favourites from Hot Docs last year. Watch it on Netflix
