Despite its poor reviews, Hancock ended up on top during the Forth of July weekend. Here are the numbers:
- Hancock – $66M
- WALL·E – $33.4M
- Wanted – $20.6M
- Get Smart – $11.1M
- Kung Fu Panda – $7.5M
- The Incredible Hulk – $4.98M
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – $3.94M
- Kit Kittredge: An American Girl – $3.6M
- Sex and the City – $2.35M
- You Don’t Mess with the Zohan – $2M
Will Smith‘s movies are usually successful and the $66M made by Hancock is a decent number, despite the fact that it is about $10M less than what I Am Legend opened with last December. It’s also down from the $70.5M Transformers made last year.
Last week’s top film Wall-E dropped down to number two with a gross of $33.4M, bringing its two-week total to $128M.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull added $3.94M bring its total gross to $307M. However, that gross is still second to Iron Man, which even though it is now out of the top 10, it now has a total gross of $312M.
And that’s the box office thoughts for this week.
