News: The Avatar Racist Debate

Source – thestar.com

It seems that everytime a movie becomes hugely popular, people start trying to find reason why it shouldn’t.

Apparently, there is a huge debate developing throughout the blogosphere (I guess you can now include this site) arguing about the racist themes that are apparently present within Avatar.

All these arguments essentially boil down to fact that the film can be seen as another “white man saves the day” film.

Personally, I think I will stay neutral on the subject, even though I do agree that there are similarities in Avatar to other films with apparent racial allegations such as Dances with Wolves and The Last Samurai.

It’s definitely something to think about.
