With the Marvel Cinematic Universe firmly established, the company is now free to make some gambits and release some film adaptations of lesser known Marvel properties. The first of these films will be the sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy, which is being directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). One thing that is immediately apparent by the first trailer for the film is that Guardians of the Galaxy has a much more of a light-hearted and comedic tone than most comic book movies. This is mostly spurred by the fact that the film has comedic actor Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) in the lead role of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord). In addition to introducing the team (which includes Zoe Saldana and wrestler Dave Bautista), there are also glimpses of the villainous characters, played by Benicio Del Toro and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who). While this trailer does not really go into the story of the film, it does help to establish the tone of what will likely be a very fun film (also, be prepared to get the song “Hooked on a Feeling” stuck in your head after watching the trailer).
