Trailer Thoughts: Funny People

funnypeopleToday we are looking at the trailer for the third directorial effort by .

Funny People

Only in a Judd Apatow film would be made the grizzled veteran to ‘s young protégé. However, since Sandler is now in his 40s, I guess it was only a matter of time until he did a “pass the torch” role.

Due to the plotline of Sandler’s character having a terminal illness, this film looks to feature more drama than Apatow’s previous films. However, this film still looks to be very funny (I love the bit with imitating ‘s Australian accent).

Even though Judd Apatow has co-written a few of Sandler’s films, I believe this is the first time Sandler has appeared in one of Apatow’s productions. As such, I would expect this role to be a bit of a departure from Sandler’s usual “Happy Madison” roles.

The film opens July 31 and I will definitely be checking it out.
