Well it’s time for the third anticipated trailer of the week. This is for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, a film meant as a prequel of sorts for the Alien series. It’s also interesting in how this is one of the few films to have teaser trailers for the teaser trailer (also talked about).
Throughout the week, we were treated the following 30 spots, which featured, a somewhat pompous, Ridley Scott talking about his return to science fiction – hyped as the genre he helped redefine.
After all that pre-hype, the first teaser trailer for the film was finally released today.
I do have to say that I enjoy the trailer. You can immediately see the homages to Alien, most notably in the way the title of the film slowly appears. The trailer is nearly entirely visual, with us getting first looks at most of the cast, which includes Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, and Michael Fassbender.
Even though the trailer does make me excited about the film, I do think that it was over-hyped. The combined length of the three teasers is longer than the trailer itself and I was almost expecting the trailer to be somewhat more than the teaser it is.
I definitely can’t wait to get a more contextual look at Prometheus and I will definitely be seeing it when it opens June 8, 2012.
