theclass posterYou can almost call a fictional documentary.

With the exception of characters created specifically for the dramatic arc of the story, everyone in this film about life in a Paris classroom are real kids. Even the teacher is essentially playing himself.

I found this film, which for the most part consists of classroom banter, very intriguing. Then, when the said dramatic arc begins around the halfway point, the film melds into a complete story.

The film was the first French film to win the Palme D’Or at Cannes and I probably expect that it will receive a “Best Foreign Film” nomination when the Oscar nominations are announced tomorrow.

I would say the film is definitely worth checking out.
