A Single Man

This film won the Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival, so I was curious to see this film as far back as TIFF.

The film follows a homosexual English professor, who is struggling to get over the death of his longtime partner.

Firth’s performance is definitely the most notable thing about this film, which I though was a standard drama.  I did like an interesting touch to the film in how the colour palette of the film would become brighter or faded based of Firth’s mood.

Overall it was a decent film and I wouldn’t be surprised if Firth gets a Oscar nomination.

8/10
