Ever since the release of Iron Man in 2008, most of the Marvel comics films have been building up to the release of The Avengers next year.  It’s a pretty unprecedented move, since, by the time it’s released, The Avengers would have been built up by five films over a four year period.

The latest of these lead-up films is .  This is an interesting film, since not only are the characters from the original comics based on Norse mythology, but the film has the unlikely director in the form of Kenneth Branagh, who is best known as the director of adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays.

Thor almost feels like two films in one, since the bulk of the first half takes place in Thor’s homeword of Asgard, before he arrives on Earth for the second half.  Like most origin stories, it takes the bulk of the film before Thor fully becomes the superhero that he is, however the rest of the film was still enjoyable, thanks to a great cast that you don’t usually see in superhero films.

Overall, I can say that Thor was a decent enough film.  I should also note that you should stay tuned after the credits for the latest Avengers teaser.
