As you may know, this film is a remake of the classic 1941 film, which was part of the the golden age of Universal horror films. A lot has changed since then and this is definitely a very dark and violent tale (as such, I was a bit disturbed when I saw a young boy no older than five in the row in front of me).
Benicio Del Toro is fairly good in the title role, but it’s Anthony Hopkins that truly shines, with a sinister personal that only he can pull off,
Another thing I am happy with is that they decided to use Danny Elfman’s score after all. His gothic sound really match the setting of the film.
If there is one thing that bothered me, it was these weird CGI-enhanced dream sequences early in the film. However, I am glad to say that I was able to forget them by the end.
In the end, I will say that The Wolfman is a decent enough film for me to give my recommendation.
