My Thoughts on Nightbitch
For this film adaptation of the 2021 novel, Marielle Heller deemphasizes the body-horror somewhat and makes the film more expicitly a dark comedy about the challenges and sacrifices of motherhood and how fathers can neglect their parental duties.Amy Adams gives one of her best performances in the film, playing the role of Mother as someone on the brink. While the film does feature some gross moments involving shower menstration and harry back growths, Nightbitch gives an interesting social commentary about how many sacrifices women have to make for the continuation of the species.
