Hobo with a Shotgun

hobo with a shotgun

began life as a contest-winning faux-trailer, which showed before the Canadian prints of Grindhouse.  It told the simple, yet violent, story of a homeless man who took revenge on evil-doers with a shotgun.

The makers of the trailer decided to make into a full film, so here we are.  Ironically, this film is probably a more faithful homage to grindhouse films than Grindhouse ever was.  The film is disturbingly violent and it is for that reason, I would not rush out to see it again.

That said, Rutger Hauer rules in the role of the hobo and, despite the violence, the film has a very tongue-in-cheek tone that makes it a joy to watch (plus any film that uses the song “Run with Us,” from the TV show The Raccoons, in the end credits gets an A+ in my book).
