It can probably be agreed that both the title and premise of Hot Tub Time Machine is a bit ridiculous. However, that doesn’t stop the film from being utterly ridiculous.
The time machine angle is just an excuse to make this film a satire of 1980s culture and I believe the film greatly succeeds in that regard.
The film is really funny and a whole lot of fun and I consider it the first great comedy of the year.
