2012 was a pretty good year for me. From a posting perspective, this has been my best year since 2009, with me making an effort to keep posts regular. Unsurprisingly, my most popular post of the year, was my report of the Dark Knight Rises Tumbler Tour back in June. Another well-received post I made was Movie Theatres of My Life back in January, which was followed up by MORE Movie Theatres of My Life in March. I was meaning to do a third post in that series, but I have yet to get around to it (something to look forward to in 2013 perhaps). One of the main highlights of the year for me was undoubtedly my Revisiting 1982 series. I’m actually amazed that I was actually able to make all twelve posts in the series in time. I also committed myself (albeit a bit late) to the Blindspot series, which I plan on continuing in 2013 (this time with a theme). I remained interested in the saga of my local cinema The Humber and I wrote, what I decided will be, the final bunch of posts involving the issues with that theatre and what I’ve dubbed “The West-End Cinema Feud”. It was a bit of a sad year to be a cinephile and I wrote posts remembering the Cinesphere (which is currently closed along with the rest of Ontario Place) and the Cumberland Theatre (which closed immediately after Hot Docs). I wrote a number of retrospective posts, including a very in-depth “Revisiting” post for Donnie Darko, to the mark the tenth anniversary of my first viewing of the film. Also, in anticipation of The Dark Knight Rises, I wrote about how much I anticipated the release of Batman Forever in 1995. I should also mention my multi-part coverage of The Story of Film: An Odyssey. Finally, I should mention how I really increased my film festival coverage this year. While, I think my coverage of Hot Docs and TIFF were pretty good, I was personally proud of my coverage of the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, in which I wrote about every single film that screened.
