Announcing Blindspot 2016: Classic Horror

Happy Halloween! Today, is the perfect day to announce my line-up for the 2016 edition of the Blindspot series, which will be Classic Horror. This came about from a recent realization that even though I consider myself a fan of horror films, I haven’t seen many of the classic films that were released in the golden age of the genre from the 1920s through to the 1950s.  I figured that I would remedy that next year with a line-up that will feature a mix of different types of classic horror films from the period.

Here are the films that will make up the 2016 blindspot series, categorized by the type of classic horror film they represent.

Silent Horror

  • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Robert Wiene, 1920)
  • The Phantom of the Opera (Rupert Julian, 1925)
Universal Monsters
  • Dracula (Tod Browning, 1931)
  • Frankenstein (James Whale, 1931)
  • The Mummy (Karl Freund, 1932)
  • King Kong (Merian C. Cooper, Ernest B. Schoedsack, 1933)
  • House of Wax (André De Toth, 1953)
  • The Fly (Kurt Neumann, 1958)
  • House on Haunted Hill (William Castle, 1959)
Hammer Films
  • The Curse of Frankenstein (Terence Fisher, 1957)
  • Horror of Dracula (Terence Fisher, 1958)
  • The Hound of the Baskervilles (Terence Fisher, 1959)
And that’s the line-up for my 2016 Blindspot! I’m sure that it will be a scary good time!
