DarkShadows 1

This Week in Movies – May 11-17

DarkShadows 1

I’m fully recovered from Hot Docs and ready to return to my regular movie-going schedule.  From the looks of it, it’s going to be a busy week.

New Releases

  • Dark Shadows (May 12) -While it’s basically been pre-decided by critics that this would the lesser of the two Tim Burton films this year, I still consider Burton to be one of my favourite directors and I haven’t seen a film of his I didn’t like.
  • Sound of my Voice (May 11) – I only first found out about this thriller opening at the Bell Lightbox last week, but the more I find out about it, the more I want to see it.  I’ll check it out later today.
  • Headhunters (May 15) – I’ve been hearing good things about this Norwegian film and I hope to squeeze it in on Tuesday afternoon.
Maybe
  • The Loved Ones (May 17) – I’m curious to see this twisted-looking Australian horror film, which won the TIFF Midnight Madness People’s Choice award in 2009.  However, I have a class on Thursday evenings, which may prevent me from making it on time.
