Checking out Hot Docs

I do have to admit that, other than TIFF, I don’t often check out the many different film festivals (over 100) that happen year round in the city (the exception being Toronto After Dark, which I’ve gone to twice now).

I’ve been meaning to check out the Hot Docs documentary festival for a while now.  I would say that it’s arguably the second biggest film festival in the city (next to TIFF) and with my growing love for documentaries, I thought it would be a perfect fit.

As such, I decided to check out a single film at the festival before it ends on Sunday.  Sadly, the bulk of the films I was interested in are long gone (really wanted to see Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey).  However, I still found an interesting film called You’ve Been Trumped, which is about trying to build a golf course in Scotland.

I’m going to be seeing that film this afternoon and I’ll probably post my thoughts on it either this evening or tomorrow.
