Movies of the Moment: March 2009

It’s a very summer-like block of films for the first month of spring. Let’s see what’s on deck.

Feature Film March 2009
Watchmen – March 6
I have a feeling that this new graphic novel adaptation is poised to be the first true blockbuster of the year and I am definitely checking it out.

Race to Witch Mountain – March 13
Even though it’s a PG-rated Disney film, this film looks like it will be a fun and exciting popcorn film. Plus, I really like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

I Love You, Man – March 20
After last year’s Role Models, Paul Rudd stars in another Apatow-esque comedy (without Judd Apatow). Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘s Jason Segal is also along for the ride. Looks to be funny.

Adventureland – March 27
I would think that the “from the director of Superbad” label is enough for me to check out this film.

May Check Out
Knowing – March 20
I remember hearing of this film way back in 2002 when it was going to be directed by Donnie Darko‘s Richard Kelly (he went on to make Southland Tales instead). If it wasn’t for the fact that March 20 is so jam packed, I would definitely give this film a watch.

Duplicity – March 20
This is another victim of the crowed March 20 date. This film looks like it would be a solid heist comedy.

Monsters Vs. Aliens – March 27
This film looks like it might finally beat Shrek as Dreamworks’ best animated film. I’d be interested in seeing it just to see if that InTru 3D is any different than regular 3D.

Not Interested

Last House on the Left – March 13
I have nothing against this remake of Wes Craven’s first film, but after Friday the 13th last week, my horror quota is filled for the moment.

Miss March – March 13
There are some funny bits in the trailer, but I have a feeling that this film might be a bit on the dumb side.
