Happy New Year. It is now that time of the year, where I list my favourite films of the year. As is always is the case, there some films (i.e. There Will Be Blood) that I haven’t been able to see before the end of year.
Now for the list.
This has been the year of Judd Apatow and his follow-up to The 40-Year-Old Virgin was just as, if not more, funny.
If Knocked-Up wasn’t funny enough, the Judd Apatow-produced Superbad was quite possibly the funniest film of the summer.
This is the year, where I started seeing a lot more independent films and this is film that really stuck out as being a very good character study.
The films of Wes Anderson have always been well-acclaimed and I believe that this film is quite possibly his best.
In this year full of independent films, I still like good genre film.
This graphic novel adaptation was probably one of the most visually spectacular films I saw this year (and the story wasn’t bad either).
It’s a shame that this double-feature did not really catch on in theatres, since it is probably the best time I had at the movies all year.
The films were split for DVD and I ranked these films individually, only Planet Terror would have made the list.
However, together this was a great day a the movies.
This film was my number 3 pick for about two days and I heartbroken to have to push it down a spot.
Still it’s one of the best films I have seen this year and it deserves its spot on the list.
This is the film that pushed Juno down from the number 3 spot.
It’s a very dark movie, but it is also quite possibly Tim Burton’s best.
Of all the independent film I’ve seen this year, this is my personal favourite and it strongly deserves it’s place as the runner-up in this year’s list.
This was the Coen Brother’s best film since Fargo and it’s my favourite film of the year.
Until next year.
