What to Watch: Mainstream Vs. Independent Films

I am usually a guy who decides what films to see months before they come up. I am frequently look over the upcoming releases at IMDb to try and schedule what film I will see on what week.

Usually it’s a very easy choice for me. I tend to go see one of the major releases for a particular week. You know the films that compete for a large opening box office, which are usually never heard of again after that week.

However, that is not the case for this week.

I am skipping movies like The Game Plan and The Kingdom and I’m probably be going to see Into the Wild, an independent film directed by .

It’s not a big deal that I am going to see an indie film. I have been making a point to see one at least once a month for a while now. However, this is the first time, since The Wind That Shakes the Barley in March, that I will be seeing such a film on the weekend, which I usually reserve for more mainstream fare.

This would be due to the fact that I am not interested in any of the mainstream releases, however I still want to see a movie this weekend. I still don’t know if seeing indie films on the weekend will become a regular thing.

I will still try to see such films at least once a month, however it would be hard to see them at any time other than during the week, since I already have many mainstream films that I would like to see.

Sometimes a proper balance is just so hard to manage
