BiographyHerbie Hancock (Herbert Jeffery Hancock, 1940, Chicago) is an American jazz musician, bandleader, piano player and composer. He has also acted in a few movies and TV-series (often associated with jazz music). With his music he has won many Grammy Awards and for his original soundtrack of ''Round Midnight" he won an Oscar. He performed with many famous musicians, beginning with Miles Davis in the 1960s, but ultimately even achieved fame with the MTV generation in the 1980s with his instrumental hit, "Rock it" (one of the first hits that featured scratching). He and his wife Gigi, have been married since 1968.
