However, Dwight soon gets more than he bargained for and […]
Don Jon (12/09/2013)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his directorial debut with the edgy romantic comedy Don Jon. Jon (Gordon-Levitt) is a suave New Jersey man, who has somewhat unrealistic expectations for relationships, due to his addiction to pornography. Lincoln (23/01/2013)
Part of me wishes that I went out and saw Steven Spielberg’s biopic of Abraham Lincoln before the Oscar nominations were announced and Lincoln became the leading film with 12 nominations, including Best Picture. Whether I wanted to or not, this status was going to affect the way that I viewed the film. Instead of […]
Looper (30/09/2012)
Ever since the release of the high school-set noir Brick in 2005, which I consider to be one of my all-time favourite films, I have considered Rian Johnson to be a director to keep an eye on. For his third, and most ambitious, feature Looper, Johnson reunites with Brick star Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a sci-fi […]
Premium Rush (02/09/2012)
Living in a big city like Toronto, I have a love/hate relationship cyclists. I have no issues with people that treat bicycles like the vehicles that they are and obey the rules of the road. However, it annoys the hell out of me when I come across cyclists that seem to believe they can bike […]
The Dark Knight Rises (21/07/2012)
Aside from the tragedy of last night’s movie theatre shooting, The Dark Knight Rises ended up being a highly enjoyable conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films. The film takes place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight. Gotham City is now relatively crime free and Bruce Wayne has retired the Batman persona and […]
Inception (18/07/2010)
Christopher Nolan has developed into one of my favourite directors and while his work on the Batman films have made him popular, I always like the other projects he does on the side. Inception is a very interesting science fiction/action film about the world of dreams and the difference between fantasy and reality. It’s a bit […]
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (10/08/2009)
This film was an origin story in every sense of the word. It was not a bad film, though it was obvious that, even as stated in the title, there wouldn’t be any true Joe vs. Cobra action until the sequel (if they make one). It was an entertaining film, but the fact that it […]
(500) Days of Summer (26/07/2009)
While I can say that I hate mainstream romantic comedies with a passion, I have always found I was able to connect with the indie romcoms, especially ones with quirky premises. (500) Days of Summer is such a film as it features a non-chronological format as it went back and forth between a 500 day […]
