His parents, Michael and Gloria, both from Jewish families, were born in the London area, U.K. He has one sister, who is three years younger than he is. Paul traveled with his family during his early years, because of his father's airline job at TWA. His family eventually settled in Overland Park, Kansas, where his mother worked as a sales manager for TV station KSMO-TV. Paul attended Broadmoor Junior High and Shawnee Mission West High School, from which he graduated in 1987, and where he was Student Body President. He then enrolled at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, majoring in theater. He graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West in Los Angeles and participated in a three-month intensive workshop under the guidance of Michael Kahn at the British Drama Academy at Oxford University in Britain. This is 40 (22/12/2012)
It was less than a decade ago when Judd Apatow established himself as a comedy king. After producing mostly TV series during the 1990s and early 2000s, Apatow hit a one-two punch by producing Anchorman in 2004 and directing The 40 Year Old Virgin in 2005, both of which would go on to be big […]
Dinner for Schmucks (02/08/2010)
This film is your average buffoon/straight man comedy. However, as the old saying says “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I don’t think that Steve Carrell goofed around this much since Anchorman and it almost makes me wish that he take more of these type of roles. It was a quite funny film and […]
Monsters vs. Aliens (05/04/2009)
One of the selling points for this film was how it was shown using “InTru3D.” As such, it was a must for me to see this film in 3D. I have to say that I was impressed. I think it was partially because it was a CGI movie, but the 3D was really seamless and […]
I Love You, Man (21/03/2009)
For Paul Rudd‘s second leading role, he teams up with fellow Judd Apatow alumnus Jason Segel for this buddy comedy about male bonding. It seems that male-bonding or “bromance” is in these days (complete with an MTV reality show), so it was only natural that a movie be made. That said, the film would have […]
Role Models (09/11/2008)
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought Role Models was produced by Judd Apatow. Not only does it star Paul Rudd, who has been a constant supporting character in Apatow’s films, but it also features Elizabeth Banks (in her third film within a month), Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jane Lynch, Ken Jeong, and Joe Lo […]
Knocked Up (04/06/2007)
There was a time, not so long ago, when I would have not felt comfortable seeing R-rated comedies like this one. However, films like Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year Old Virgin (a film I was initially freaked out about, but quietly went to see anyway) showed me that those films tend to be the more […]
