It’s been nearly three months since I last posted a DVD column. Essentially, this stems from the fact that I don’t really like recommending DVDs that I would never buy myself. As such, I decided to reformat things and I new will only make posts about the DVDs I actually buy.
So, today I purchased the Extended Cut Blu-Ray of Sucker Punch. This 3-disc set features both the theatrical cut of the film, as well as the extended cut of the film, which adds 17 minutes for footage to the film (which, in the US, changes the rating from PG-13 to R). There is also a standard DVD, which had the theatrical cut of the film, along with digital copy. The specific set that I bought also comes in a neat-looking steelbook case.
Special features on the set includes Maximum Movie Mode (i.e. video commentary with Zack Snyder), Animated Shorts, and a feature about the soundtrack.
Details:
Sucker Punch
Blu-Ray/DVD Combo (Steelbook) – $26.99 (CAN), $49.99 (US)
Film Thoughts: Pretty good from an entertainment standpoint, even though the story just seemed like a way to string together the action sequences.
Film Rating: 8/10
