Hmmm…I just took a look at the Golden Globe nominations. Of the best picture candidates, there are only a small handful of nominations (such as Brokeback Mountain, The Squid and the Whale, and Walk the Line) that I was thinking would get nominated.
The other nominations seem to go all over the place. There are some movies here, which I only briefly heard of in reviews and advertisements. That may actually be a good thing, since I may try checking out a few of the films before the awards season really gets going.
Even though it will be a couple of weeks before I officially make my predictions, I can say that Brokeback Mountain is really the standout nominee here. Another standout here, which may battle Brokeback during the Oscars, is The Squid and the Wale.
