Greenberg

This film can be filed along with the countless number of film which feature a comedic actor in a dramatic role.  However, this is nothing new for director Noah Baumbach, who cast in a major supporting role from his last film Margot at the Wedding.

You can almost consider this film as a midlife crisis film as Stiller plays a man who is rethinking is life, while housesitting for his brother.  The only thing that make this not your typical midlife crisis story is that Stiller’s character has just recently recovered from a nervous breakdown.

I was really impressed with in the lead female role.  In fact she is the sole focus of the film for the first few minutes before Stiller’s character shows up about 10-15 minutes into the film.  She is just as much a lead in this film as Stiller is.

Comparing this film to Baumbach’s other films, I would say that it is much better than Magot at the Wedding, however I will still say that The Squid and the Whale is his best film.  I do recommend Greenberg though.
