Trailer – Avatar: The Way of Water

Thirteen years after the original, is finally back with . The full trailer for the film has been released ahead of the film’s release on December 16, 2022. Very little of the film’s actual story is revealed in the trailer other than showing a peak into the film’s underwater scenes. The trailer also focuses significantly on the new character of Kiri, the teenage adopted daughter of the protagonists Jake and Neytiri, played by , who previously played the character of Grace Augustine in the original. The dialogue in the trailer suggests that there may be a connection between the two characters.

With a significant portion of the plot of Avatar: The Way of Water taking place underwater, it can be suggested that the film is a spiritual follow-up to James Cameron’s 1990 film The Abyss, which was one of his first films to make use of CGI effects. Interestingly, the trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water focuses almost entirely on the CGI world of Pandora, with very little footage of the live-action characters in the film. This absence makes you wonder how prominent they will be in the final film, which is reported to be over three hours long.

After over a decade, we don’t have much longer to wait for Avatar: The Way of Water, as the film will be released in just over a month on December 16, 2022.
