Trailer Thoughts: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

streetfighter legendofchunliThis week we look at what is pretty much a reboot of the 1994 film adaptation of the popular video game.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

This Street Fighter film is obviously taking a different direction than the 1994 film. While the earlier film attempted to duplicate the look the videogames (to mixed results), this film seems to be taking on a more realistic appearance.

In fact, the look of the film is so different from the games, if it wasn’t in the title, I would have no idea that this is a Street Figher adaptation. Based on this trailer, the only character that truly retains his/her look from the game is that of the masked fighter Vega. Heck, I wouldn’t even know that the villain (played by ) was M. Bison if it wasn’t pointed out to me.

A Street Fighter movie that looks next to nothing like Street Fighter? I’m going to pass on this one when it opens next month.
