Trailer Thoughts: Watchmen

watchmenThis week we will be taking a look at the first trailer for the graphic novel adaptation , which debuted in front of The Dark Knight.

Watchmen

The film adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen has been in development hell since the graphic novel came out over 20 years ago. The film finally got going a few years ago with 300’s Zach Snyder directing.

This teaser trailer is just a montage that introduces us to all the characters in the universe. It works as both a nod to the fans of the graphic novel (seeing the characters on the big screen) and as introduction for people, like me, who is not too familiar with the source material.

A little bit of irony with this trailer is that it was shown in front of a Batman movie and the trailer is set to “The Beginning is the End is the Beginning” by The Smashing Pumpkins, which was from the Batman and Robin soundtrack (and was one of the best things about that movie).

I am definitely going to keep an eye on this film from now until it opens next March.
