OneWeek PosterWhile I have to wait until Tuesday to see Watchmen, I decided to fill my time yesterday to see this film about a cancer-ridden man that decides to go onto a cross-Canada road trip.

The fact that the film stars raises the profile of this film a bit, since the Vancouver-born Jackson is really well known from his American film and TV roles (which are probably seen by more Canadians than Canadian films are).

The plot of film is quite simple: a young man is diagnosed with terminal cancer and decides to ride a motorcycle across the country, so he can have one final adventure.

A good chunk of the film involves us watching the actions of Jackson’s character, accompanied by narration and the film only really includes dialogue when required.

The film can also be considered a celebration of Canada, and there are many (sometime humourous) references to Canadian pop culture, such as Tim Hortons and the Stanley Cup.

All-in-all was a decent film and probably one of the better Canadian films out there.

8/10
