Drive Angry 3D

I have to say that Drive Angry owes a lot to the recent resurgence of grindhouse-type films.  First there was the Robert Rodriguez and -directed homage to the films, followed by the spin-off Machete, and later this month will see the release of Hobo with a Shotgun, which was based on a contest-winning fake trailer that played with Grindhouse.

While Drive Angry has nothing to do with the above films, it is still a type of film that probably would have played in grindhouses back in the day.  In other words, it’s an over-the-top, hyper-violent action film with some dark humour and horror thrown in.

The film’s story not really meant to be taken that seriously and the 3D effects are as gimmicky as they can get.  In other words, the film was one fun ride.
