The catching up on late-2008 films continues with this film, which I saw last night.
If it is true that this film will be Clint Eastwood‘s final acting role, I can say that he went out with a bang.
In this film, Eastwood channels the spirit of Dirty Harry as a grumpy, old racist man, who is haunted by his experiences in the Korean war and is not too happy that his neighbourhood is switching from a European to Asian community.
The film deals with Eastwood’s character slowly shedding his gruff exterior as he bonds with his Asian neighbours, after he protects them from a local gang.
While it is fun watching Eastwood return to grumpy tough guy, underneath it all is a film with a message about looking past one’s differences.
