Life of Pi is the new film by director Ang Lee and is about an Indian boy named Pi, who is stranded in a lifeboat after a ship sinks, with his only company being a Bengal .  The film is a very spiritual and mystical film and religion plays a very big role in the story of the film.  The bulk of film is just the boy, the boat, and the tiger, so it was definitely a success for the film that I was able to remain engaged in the mostly static action The film was shown in 3D and I have to say that it didn’t need to be.  While there are some scenes that take advantage of the 3D (one with flying fish come to mind), since the bulk of the action was static, I didn’t find the 3D noticeable for the most part.  I definitely have to disagree with that marketing’s pronouncements that this film is “the next Avatar.” Overall, I would say that Life of Pi was an interesting and enjoyable film about faith and survival.  As the tagline of the film says, the film will have you believing the unbelievable.8 | LIKED IT
