A positive thing I can say about the sequel to Paranormal Activity 2 is that there are no major changes to the formula of the first film. In fact, the only real change is that the hauntings are captured with in-house security cameras instead of a single camera set-up in a bedroom.
I do have to say that having more than one camera lessens the impact of the hauntings somewhat, since if you here a sound from another room, the camera changes to that room to show you what is happening. That said, there are few unique frights in the film (though they don’t really happen until late).
Probably the biggest issue I have with the film is that the screenwriters seemed compelled to explain why the hauntings were happening and I do have to say that I though these revelations somewhat lessened the impact of not only this film, but the entire first film.
That said, for a cash-in film, Paranormal Activity 2 still had its moments and, in the end, I enjoyed the film.
